I'm Eze Paez.
I am currently enjoying a Foundation for Science and Technology Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Centre for Humanistic Studies of the University of Minho (Braga, Portugal). I am also a board member of the Centre for Animal Ethics (UPF-CAE) at Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona, Spain). Until recently, I was there also a lecturer in legal theory, moral and political philosophy. In that same university I got my PhD (2014) in moral philosophy and received an MA and a BA in Law.
My interests are in normative and applied ethics. I have previously worked on the ontological and normative facets of abortion. I am now working on questions related to the badness of death and interspecies comparisons of happiness.
I'm also interested in several theoretical and applied problems in population ethics, in particular, how the consideration of nonhuman interests might affect decisions regarding which beings shall come into existence. Currently, I am assessing whether we have altruism-based duties not to raise children.
I'm a vegan and an activist.
I geek around in my free time. My latest related accomplishment is the creation of a fantasy short story about a Dwarf Warrior.
My friends call me (bio)Ethix.
